Background
We're working on Kubi's full bio - check back soon.
Coach Kubi started VIA with one idea. Build the room he wished he had walked into.
He is an accomplished competitor and co-founder of VIA Jiu Jitsu Academy. With more than 100 competitive matches and multiple championship titles, he brings real competition experience to every class he teaches.
Before founding VIA, Kubi served as a head kids coach and program director, helping build and lead successful youth programs. He has also coached through the New Haven PAL program. His coaching style is direct, technical, and demanding, with a strong focus on discipline, confidence, and skills that hold up under pressure.
Kubi's connection to Jiu-Jitsu is deeply personal. After losing more than 80 pounds and completely transforming his own life through training, he became committed to giving others that same opportunity. His goal at VIA is to develop more than great competitors. It is to build strong, confident people who carry themselves differently on and off the mats.
He also co-founded the VIA Foundation, a 501(c)(3) that puts law enforcement officers and at-risk youth on the mats for free.
Whether he is coaching a first-day beginner, developing a young athlete, or preparing an experienced competitor, Coach Kubi holds every student to a high standard while giving them the support and belief needed to reach it.
Leave every session 1% better. Walk the path.
